Michael Weinstock began practicing law as an Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn, where he handled hundreds of drunk driving cases. While he was working as a prosecutor, Mr. Weinstock gained an enormous amount of trial experience. In one instance, he was recognized by President Bill Clinton and the Inspector General of the United States, after gaining an important conviction with a defendant who had used a complicated scheme to embezzle funds from the federal Americorps program. When he is not teaching, Mr. Weinstock runs a law practice on Long Island with a focus on drunk driving defense. Before starting his own practice, Mr. Weinstock was an associate with one of the nation’s most prestigious maritime litigation law firms.
In recent years, Mr. Weinstock has been the focus of articles in The New York Times, The New York Law Journal, the New York Metro, the New York Post, the New Zealand Herald and the Great Neck Record. His cases regularly appear in New York Newsday, the Wall Street Journal and numerous television news programs.
He is admitted to practice before the courts of the State of New York and the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern and Northern Districts of New York. Mr. Weinstock has been invited to lecture about criminal law and public speaking at the New York City Bar Association, St Johns School of Law, the Queens County Bar Association and the National Academy of Continuing Legal Education(NACLE). Mr. Weinstock is an active member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York as well as the Nassau County Bar Association. He is a contributing author to the book “Dollars and Democracy: A Blueprint for Campaign Finance Reform” which was published by Fordham University Press in 2000. He is a proud coach of the award-winning HAFTR high school mock trial team.
